What to Bring and What to Wear at IREC 2026

This is a harsh, hot, dry, desert environment with potentially dangerous wildlife in the area.

Temperatures can reach 105 F (40 C).

Dehydration injuries happen every year. BE PREPARED! WATER WATER WATER!!! Team members look out for each other! Everyone should be drinking significant amounts of water.

Any team members wearing inappropriate/unsafe clothing will be asked to correct it immediately. If inappropriate clothing continues, points will be deducted from your team or you may be escorted out of the launch area.

Do wear:

Hat

Sunglasses

Light weight material

Long pants and long-sleeved shirt

Closed-toe shoes

Do not wear:

Open-toed shoes, sandals, or flip flops

Sleeveless T-shirts

Shorts

Water, lots of water! Always have water with you.

Water bottles.

Sunscreen - SPF 45+ (apply every 2 hours)

First aid kit (for your group)

Insect repellant

10 ft x 10 ft tent

Folding chairs

Battery back-ups
